In this variation Black as stones in place at the neighboring star points. a "tsuke " is a move made in contact with an opponent's stone. In this case black's second stone placed in contact with white's first stone is a tsuke. A "hiki" is a move that pulls back. Blacks third stone is a hiki pulling back from the tsuke, towards black's first stone.
